Ongoing Garden Work
Back to main page
We decided to turn what was formerly a play area into a large garden. We thought
that this would be a simple matter of removing some of the wood chips and filling
in with top soil. In the process of moving the wood chips, we found a layer of
rocks, followed by a layer of black fabric. Under this were a set of drainage pipes.
These pipes were at too shallow of a depth for gardening. After a little research,
we decided that for use as a garden, the drainage system was not really necessary, so
we set to work on removing the rocks and the pipes. When we got the first set
of pipes out - we discovered low voltage electrical wire for the landscape lighting
in the backyard was also run through this area. We bought additional wire - spliced
it in and stapled to the side of the box
