Wiring work
Back to main page
The house had very old phone wiring and two rooms (living room, office) had no
phone jacks. We replaced the old phone wiring and ran CAT5 throughout the house.
Two wallplates were added to each room (3 in the living room) each with two phone jacks and
two ethernet jacks. We used the furnace closet as a wiring closet. The Ethernet
is patched together with a 24-port patch panel and hub, and the
phones are done using a punch down block and cross connecting the wires from the
phone company to each of the new jacks. This setup enables us to hook up our laptops in any room to our
home network.
